The area between Lincoln cathedral and Lincoln castle is called Castle Square

This makes the perfect vantage point for photography and to capture an image of the twin West Towers of the cathedral with some of the Bailgate area buildings in the foreground.  What makes this particular photograph unique is that it was taken on a snowy evening in lockdown when very few people were out and about.

The snow on the ground reflects the light to give a unique winter feel to the image.  The small aperture (f10) and 24mm prime lens used to take the photograph means that the lights on the Judges' lodgings (the building next to the iconic red telephone box) make beautiful starbursts.  The black and white timber framed building with the bow window next door is now the Visitor Information Office and forms part of Leigh-Pemberton House which dates back to the 16th century. It is one of the oldest buildings in Lincoln that is still in regular use and has a stunning beamed ceiling inside visible to all visitors.

The Magna Carta pub is so-named because Lincoln has one of the original copies of Magna Carta (the great charter) signed by King John at Runnymede in 1215.  Lincoln's Magna Carta can be seen in a special display in Lincoln Castle.

("Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain? Brave Hungarian peasant girl who forced King John to sign the pledge at Runnymede and close the boozers at half past ten! Is all this to be forgotten?"  This quote runs through my head whenever I hear the words 'Magna Carta'!).

Two types of print are available.

Medium and Large prints are supplied on an aluminium dibond base with a metal subframe on the back so that they can be easily hung on your wall.  The full colour print has a layer of high gloss laminate applied to it to give the picture a stunning glass-like effect.

The Extra Large prints are made on a specially coated canvas that is then stretched over a pine wood frame.  At over a metre, this means that the artwork is rigid and yet light enough to be easily hung on your wall.  A hanging kit is supplied as standard with all canvases.
